Hello to you All
The Paralympics have got
off to a good start with 20 medals for GB as I write. What dedication and perseverance in the face
of adversity! We may not achieve such
heights but it does not mean we can’t achieve anything. Small successes along life’s way are also
worthy of celebration. Let me know some
of yours. Let’s celebrate together.

15 Terms Everyone With Fibromyalgia
Should Know
“When you have fibromyalgia
, the more you learn about your illness the better you can take care of
yourself. While medical terminology can be overwhelming and hard to understand
(especially on foggy days!), it can really help to know a few key terms. I went
through my fibromyalgia
glossary and picked out the ones I thought were most important:!

Self-Help Strategies and Lifestyle Changes
When the symptoms of fibromyalgia seem overwhelming or
worse than usual, there are self-help methods to ease your discomfort and make
you feel better about yourself. Making certain lifestyle changes will also
give you a greater sense of control. Below are just a few examples of self-help
strategies you may want to incorporate into your daily care.

Believe in Yourself—Steering Clear of
Self-Doubt and Destructive Thoughts
How do you believe in
yourself when others trivialize your symptoms? Or how do you continue to like
yourself when fibromyalgia keeps stealing your energy and ability to function
as you once did? These situations fuel ongoing battles and undermine your
self-esteem. But no matter what others say or do, it is essential that you
believe in yourself.

Tough Lifestyle Decisions With
Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Making important decisions
about your life is hard enough when you're healthy. When you have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, there's a
permanent wrench in all of your plans.

Dysautonomia in Fibromyalgia &
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Not everyone with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome has problems with
homeostasis, but most of us definitely do. That's because of abnormalities in
our autonomic nervous system. A whole "family" of illnesses have this
same problem, and they fall under the umbrella term "dysautonomia."

Diary of a Benefit Scrounger - Cameron
and the Paralympics
Well my friends, it is
2012.
Just 2 years ago, this coalition government, led by David Cameron and Nick Clegg launched the single biggest attack on the lives and livelihoods of sick and disabled people this country has ever seen.
They did it as wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. They lied about their intentions, justifying their attacks with pretty words. They told the people of this country that they were "supporting us" into work, but there is no support. They told the country so many of us were just cheats and scroungers, not really sick or disabled at all, but leeches on the state, sucking money from hard working people. But fraud is less than 1%. Rwad on . . . .

Living Well with Fibromyalgia – a new
newsletter by Fibro Modem (Simone)
“Welcome to the first
issue of Living Well With Fibromyalgia. I am not sure, as yet, how often this
newsletter will be produced. That may depend on you.
Currently, I am the one
and only contributor, and I have sourced articles from all over the internet. I
hope, in time, that you will help to make this newsletter another successful
resource for Fibromyalgia sufferers.”

Next month I am going to
Spain. I am having the greatest difficulty in finding
affordable travel insurance, for my husband and myself, because of our age
(both over 75 but not quite 80) and our medical conditions. Can anyone recommend an insurance company which
doesn’t charge more for the insurance than the cost of the air fares?!
Fondest wishes to you all
Stella

N.B. I would like to point out to you all that the
information in my eNewsletters does not necessarily infer endorsement by the
charity Fibromyalgia Support for Surrey & Sussex. Any advice or
recommendation of a medical or legal nature must always be discussed with a
qualified professional. The charity cannot be held responsible for omissions
and/or errors.
Sites I refer you to are for information only.
They might conflict in their opinions, they might not even be medically sound,
but I merely offer them for you to peruse and make your own judgements, accept
or reject as you will. Only by reading widely can we get an overall
picture of fibromyalgia syndrome and how we can deal with its symptoms, learn
to cope with them and still have a life.
I also include various awareness and local issues as
well as general health considerations.
