Greetings everyone
The Olympic Games have got off to a good start. Isn’t the enthusiasm, vigour, stamina, strength,
determination and dedication of all the athletes amazing? We fibromites are not likely to be running,
jumping, swimming, cycling or even walking very far, but we can take note of
the positive attitude of these heroes.
We can take control of our
lives and not let fibromyalgia take control of us.

WORDz FOR THE WEEK
81. There is a choice you
have to make, in everything that you do.
You must always keep in mind, the choice that you make, makes you.

When Your Clothes Hurt Because of Fibromyalgia
A lot of people live with pain, but few people without fibromyalgia find the simple act of wearing
clothes painful.
For us, though, it's just a fact of life. We often need to
re-think the way we dress and make significant changes to avoid the burning,
searing pain associated with anything tight, binding, rough, or made from
certain fabrics.

Norepinephrine Drug Shown Effective in Fibromyalgia
A drug that impacts the activity of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine has been found effective at
treating symptoms of fibromyalgia, according to a new study.
Most drugs used for fibromyalgia, including two that are FDA
approved for the condition, target either serotonin (another neurotransmitter) or
both serotonin and norepinephrine. This study demonstrates that targeting only
norepinephrine may be effective as well.
Researchers say the drug esreboxetine lowered pain levels by 30
percent or more, and also improved other symptoms such as physical function,
difficulty working and depression.

Poll: Sleep Meds for Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Sleep problems are nearly universal in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I've even read
that some experts won't diagnose these conditions in people who sleep well.
A lot of us turn to sleep medications or supplements. However, a
lot of us also have problems tolerating these things, even when they're
natural.

The GP who gave up fruit and veg to cure
her aches and pains
A Good Health article in the Daily Mail – 27th July
A Good Health article in the Daily Mail – 27th July
“A few years
ago I started to feel unwell. My legs ached and tingled, I felt tired and my
mood was flat. I slept badly — I suffered from restless legs and my muscles
kept twitching — and couldn’t concentrate during the day.
My work as a
GP involved having to learn how to use some different software and I just
couldn’t get to grips with it at all — my mind was so befuddled. Although only
in my early 40s, I stopped enjoying going out and couldn’t get enthused about
seeing friends.”
A
controversial treatment of fibromyalgia.

Will changing your diet help you cope with fibromyalgia?
If you have fibromyalgia, you've probably wondered if there are
ways you could modify your diet to improve symptoms such as fatigue and muscle
pain.
Research hasn't shown that there are specific foods that all
fibromyalgia patients should avoid or add to their diets. But it may still be
worthwhile to take a closer look at how foods impact the way you feel.

Herbs and Supplements for Fibromyalgia
Managing the symptoms of fibromyalgia or related
ailments is not easy. So, many patients turn to alternative therapies for
relief of pain and sleep problems. They may use Chinese herbs or
over-the-counter supplements such as 5-HTP, melatonin, and SAM-e.. . . . . .
